Linux : News : IBM's Linux Wristwatch

One of the products showcased by IBM at the recently concluded Bang!inux conference was their Linux-based wrist watch. The software development for this watch is being done here in India. We were able to grab some of the developers working on this watch project and pump them for more information.

Bang!inux looks set to become the Linux event in India. This year's event was aimed at Linux programmers and getting people involved in Linux and Open Source development. There was a lot here and we were fortunate enough to be there to see the IBM Linux-based wrist watch, Kylix in action and interact with many famous Open Source developers.

IT has been called the great leveller, but what really is the situation at the grassroots level? Freeware and open source perfectly complement and extend the goals of the NGOs. While Linux certainly has worked for some organizations, there is more work to be done.
