Linux : Articles : For Kernel_Newbies By a Kernel_Newbie
By Posted: ( Thu 27th Jun 2002 11:33:36[AM] UTC )
Before I start off,I would like to confess that I am a complete Kernel_Newbie who has been hacking 2.4 Kernel Code for only 1 month, and hence some of the information might be inconsistent owing to the __inconsistent__ knowledge of the author. It is highly recommended to combine this Document with Tigrans 2.4 Kernel Internals (linuxdoc.org),as the left_overs can be traced to his document.

Linux : Articles : Linux @ Cebit
By Posted: ( Tue 19th Mar 2002 01:59:34[PM] UTC )
When I first went to Linux World Expo, San Jose, I thought that was big until I went to Comdex, Las Vegas and found that was huge. Now I am at Cebit, Hannover and everything else looks small. Cebit is undoubtly the largest trade fair of any kind spanning over 400,000 square meters.

Linux : Reviews : Polywell Poly Server Station 890
By Posted: ( Fri 17th Aug 2001 01:06:12[AM] UTC )
Almost limitless configurability and great performance make the Poly ServerStation 890T a serious workstation contender. Featuring dual 1.2GHz Athlon CPUs, 512MB of DDR SDRAM, and four 40GB hard drives, the system screamed through our benchmarks. Standard service and support, however, fall a bit short for the money.

Linux : Opinions : Opening closed minds to open source
By Posted: ( Tue 14th Aug 2001 02:03:02[AM] UTC )
In his recent column Jack MacCrisken criticized open source advocates for treating the merits of open source versus proprietary software development as a simplistic battle between the forces of Good and Evil. Let's be clear. It's Microsoft that diagnosed Linux as a supposed "cancer" and polarized the debate to begin with. So I'm here to offer a second opinion: Contrary to Dr. Ballmer's misinformed prognosis, the weight of evidence shows that Linux, and open source software in general, can in fact co-exist with proprietary software.

Linux : Opinions : Why Microsoft is wary of open source?
By Posted: ( Tue 7th Aug 2001 04:39:51[AM] UTC )
There’s more to Microsoft’s recent attacks on the open-source movement than mere rhetoric: Linux’s popularity could hinder the software giant in its quest to gain control of a server market that’s crucial to its long-term goals.

Linux : Reviews : Gaim: The game for AOL Instant Messaging on Linux
By Posted: ( Sun 5th Aug 2001 09:50:50[PM] UTC )
Last time I had looked at Licq, a solution for your ICQ needs on Linux. I was supposed to follow up the next with a review of an AOL IM client. As you can see, I ended up taking a bit longer than a week! This week I take a look at a client that'll help you keep in touch with all your "Buddys" on AOL Instant Messenger. Like with ICQ, the only official version available is a Java client. Once again, the lack of an official native client is not much of a problem and there are several Linux clones for you to choose from. The one that I am taking a look at is Gaim, a feature rich, easy to use and lightweight client for AOL.
